Though singer/songwriter (now Crescent City denizen) Mike Kerwin hails from Detroit, he possesses a Southern Sensibility with his simple, yet infectious songs. They're not only uniquely homespun, but certain key phrases cast hypnotic, circular feel ("Rowboat""Come Live By Me"). Lyrically, Kerwin has an interesting way of expressing things- "I know how it feels when the talkin' ain't real/Like second helpings of a really bad meal." Obliviously he is comfortable in the city that care forgot, evening succumbing to the summer dog days on "Heat". With support from Bart Ramsey, Jeff Burke, Vida Wakeman, Tom Marron and others, a community folkie feel is a chief factor in the disc's intimate vibe.
